There’s fake news making rounds: “Kashmir to host World Cup match after 37 years!” The news is based on a creative uploaded by a Facebook page, which read “IF BCCI decides to host 48 ICC World Cup matches in 48 different venues” with a list of venues.
Many Facebook pages and some news houses, surprisingly, misread this creative, spreading the fake news that Kashmir will host the World Cup.
Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium in Srinagar last hosted an international match in 1986. The ground hasn’t even hosted a Ranji Trophy match in the last four years. There’s zero possibility of it hosting an international match in near future.
