Srinagar: The well known adventure sports promoter and former athlete Rauf Ahmad Tramboo has been elected as new president of the Winter Games Association of J&K.
The election of WGAJK was held on Wednesday in Srinagar with Tramboo elected as President.
A press release issued here said that the election proceedings were conducted by the returning officer Masbat, Deputy Legal Remembrance appointed by J & K Sports Council and Colonel Vimak Jalla of Ski and snowboard India, who were present as the observers. Out of the valid voter list, about 95 % of voters of the association were present in the election proceedings.
The returning officer declared the final results of office bearers and executive members elected as unopposed included Rouf Ahmad Tramboo, President, Javaid Ahmad Anim, Senior Vice President, G M Hajjam, Vice President 1st, Abdul Rashid Tantray, Vice President 2nd, Farhat Ali Naik, General Secretary, Tahir Shafi Mir, Joint Secretary Kashmir, Rakesh Singh, Joint Secretary Jammu and Hafiza Athtar as Treasurer
Mohammed Abass Wani, former president of Winter Games Association Kashmir, in his address congratulated Rauf Ahmad Tramboo, the newly elected president and his team and assured his full support and cooperation in the association affairs for the promotion and upliftment of winter sports, the press release added.
After being elected as President, Rauf Tramboo assured that his team will leave no stone unturned for the promotion of winter sports in Jammu and Kashmir.
