Rubia Syed fought a lonely battle as J&K suffered another loss in Senior Women T20 Trophy on Friday, this time against Goa.
J&K batters, especially the guest player AN Tomar yet again showed no intent whatsoever. Tomar, who JKCA brought in to improve its women’s cricket, made 7 runs off 27 balls, which is absolutely unacceptable in a T20!
Earlier, J&K bowled well and restricted Goa to 123-run score. Rubia Syed was pick of the bowlers, picking up a couple of wickets.
In reply, J&K didn’t quite start the innings well. They kept struggling, especially AN Tomar (7 off 27) and Bushra Ashraf (19 off 29). The duo ate up a lot of balls!
However, Rubia Syed came to the rescue. She struck unbeaten 41-ball 52 runs, but it wasn’t enough at the end as J&K could only make 95-5 in the allotted 20 overs, handing Goa an easy win of 28 runs.
J&K lost the first match in a similar fashion as batters played with a below-par strike-rate! The second match was washed out.
