Stage set for historic National Rowing Championship in Srinagar

Srinagar: The historic first ever Rowing National Championship in Kashmir is going to be inaugurated at SKICC Srinagar on Wednesday, June 22.

Around 700 players, officials representing 25 States, Union Territories from All over India would be participating in 23rd Sub-junior and 5th Inter State Challenger National Rowing Championship.

It will be first time ever that National championship of Rowing would be hosted in J&K. The championship is likely to be inaugurated on  by Lieutenant Governor J&K, Manoj Sinha.

All the teams have arrived in Srinagar and on Tuesday  had their first training session in the course specially made for the championship in Dal Lake. 

Despite bad weather players from all teams had their training sessions and would be having another session on Wednesday morning. The competitions are scheduled to be held from Thursday morning.

The event is being conducted by J&K Rowing and Sculling Association under the auspices of Rowing Federation of India and sponsored by J&K Sports Council with active support from J&K Police, Tourism, J&K Adminstration, Health, LAWDA, SKICC, SDRF, NDRF and SMC.
