Srinagar, May 29: Jammu and Kashmir’s Umran Malik was on Sunday named emerging player of IPL 2022 and awarded 20 lakh INR. Mohammed Shami received the award on behalf of Umran as he wasn’t present at the venue.
Umran shook the tournament with his express pace, bowling over 150kmph on a constant basis. The right-arm quick picked 22 wickets in 14 matches, finishing as the fourth highest wicket-taker in the tournament.

Umran was retained by Sunrisers Hyderabad at 4 crore ahead of IPL 2022 and it turned out out to be a good decision as the youngster did quite well for them. Notably, the 22-year-old had made his debut in IPL 2021.
Umran’s heroics in the IPL already earned him the maiden call-up to the Indian team for the upcoming South Africa series. He became just the second J&K cricketer to make it to the international cricket after Parvez Rasool.
Umran hails from Gujjar Nagar area of Jammu and has been centre of attraction for J&K cricket fans in this year’s IPL.
