Srinagar, October 30: The unbeaten knock of 69 runs by Muneeb Munaf guided Islamia College to title win of the Inter College Rolling Trophy tournament at Islamia College Ground Srinagar on Friday, October 30.

The finals of inter college cricket rolling trophy was played between Islamia college and Amar Singh College Srinagar at Islamia College Turf wicket after Covid-19 enforced gap of about seven months.

The final match was inaugurated by the Comissioner Secretary to Government Higher education department Tallat Parvaiz Rohella early in the morning. He interacted with the players and insisted them to take part in the games and sports.

He informed the small gathering on the occasion that the department is organising the sports festival in coming winter as well and asked the colleges to gear up for the same. After winning the toss the A S College captain decided to bat first and the team scored 150 runs in alloted 20 overs. Ravees with 41 and Riyaz Malik with 36 were the prominent scorers. For Islamia college Danish took 3, Muneeb and Imtiyaz took 2 wickets each.

Chasing a target of 151 runs Islamia boys played a patient and well calculated cricket nd overhauled the target in last over with one ball to spare. With 69 run not out knock of Muneeb Munaf who was later adjudged the player of the tournament as well the host team was always in hunt. Naveed with 33 and Imtiyaz with 27 were other prominent scorers for the hosts. For A S College who bowld nd fielded very well Irfan,Tanvir and Shahid took one wicket each.

Islamia college won by 7 wickets. Imtiyaz Bhat of Islamia College was adjudged as the best bowler of the tournament and Mr. Rayees of A S College was adjudged the best batsman of the tournament.Muneeb Munaf was awarded man of the match for his allround performance.
In the end the Director Colleges Prof. M Y Peerzada with Former Director Colleges Prof. Y A Shah, Former Principal Islamia College Prof. M A Khan nd Principals of both the host College gave away the prizes and medals to the winners, Runners up and the officials of the tournament . Members of
Islamia College champion teams of Table Tenis, Badminton and Cricket were given away the track suits in recognition to their achievement in the Sports Festival 2020
The tournament was jointly organised by Islamia College and Amar Singh College involving 32 teams from all prominent colleges of the valley .
