Srinagar, July 18: In the times when development of sports infrastructure has been put amoung priority issues in J&K, cricketers in Shhapora, Wathora Budgam area daily risking their lives to reach the cricket ground by waking over a temporary bridge on the Nallah connecting the ground.

“We the residents of Shahpora, Wathora, want to bring into the notice of concerned authorities that we have a playground of almost five hectares (100 kanals), which is without a footbridge for almost 40 years now,” Said a local Shahid Bhat.

“Our repeated requests have been neglected every now and then, ” He said.

The locals said that in absence of Government support they themselves every year prepare temporary footbridge which gets washed away by the flash floods and high rise in the Nallah.

“Residents managed to prepare a footbridge on their own but everytime the water level rises up and it gets washed away. This playground is the largest playground in the whole Budgam district where players like Manzoor Pandav and other star players have played, ” Said another local.

“We appeal the concerned authorities to provide a footbridge for the safety and convenience of locals, ” Residents added.
