Srinagar: Having been left out for the first time in recent years from the Indian Premier League (IPL) Players Auction, it seems to be end of IPL dream road for the India discard and star cricketer of Kashmir Parvez Rasool.

For the first time since the beginning of IPL no Kashmir cricketer including Parvez Rasool were not featuring in the Indian Premier League (IPL) final player’s auction list.

The final set of players that went under hammer today on December 19 included no player from Kashmir region while as it had three cricketers from Jammu.

The IPL-2020 player’s auction this year was held in Kolkatta instead of its traditional venue of Bangalore. Initially 971 players from all over the World had registered themselves for the auction. The list included 713 Indian and 258 overseas players. After sending the list to franchisees, IPL announced the final of list players who will be going under hammer during the auction. The franchisees trimmed the list from 971 players to 332.

From J&K this year there were only three players in the list who all belonged to Jammu region while as there was no one from Kashmir region. It was for the first time since inception of cash rich league that no cricketer from Kashmir was in the final auction list.

The biggest surprise was of J&K star cricketer Parvez Rasool who has been snubbed totally by being ignored in the final auction list.

The three cricketers who were in fray in the auction were 19-year old all-rounder Abdul Samad, batsman Shubham Khajuria and current J&K Ranji trophy skipper batsman Shubham Pundir. While there are little chances of Khajuria and Pundir to be picked up by the teams during auction, there are high hopes from Abdul Samad.

While there are high hopes from Samad, the biggest surprise this year’s auction list for J&K cricketers has thrown is total snub of Parvez Rasool. Since breaking into the scene Parvez has represented multiple teams in IPL and last being Virat Kohli lead Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Since being let go by RCB three years back, Parvez has continuously featured in auction, only to be overlooked by teams. He is known as biggest star in J&K Sports circles for being first cricketer to play for India and IPL. Also have many other accolades to his name.

The reason for the snub is not known but can be attributed to his lack of quality form in Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy tournament for J&K team. Also his recent injury which the cricketer tried to hide from everyone can be a major reason for the snub.

Till that only two J&K players have played in IPL while as four found places in teams. They all have been from Kashmir region and it is for the first time that all the players in auction and having chance to get picked for IPL belong to Jammu region.

Last year Kulgam cricketer Rasikh Salam was picked by Mumbai Indian’s and played one match for the team. All had high hopes from him till BCCI banned the cricketer for two years for age fudging. Before that Manzoor Pandav was picked by Kings-XI Punjab but was not handed single match to play. Long before that pacer Mohammad Mudhasir was also picked by Punjab side and like Pandav was not handed a single match. Apart from them Parvez Rasool is only cricketer from J&K to have played multiple matches and represented multiple teams in the league.
