
It is repeat of Political messages being used during current edition of Cricket World.
After the similar incident occurred during Pakistan-Afghanistan match with political banners flown over the venue, the similar kind of banners saw appearance again during India-Srilanka ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 match highlighting ‘Justice for Kashmir’ message.
While International Cricket Council bars political message during the matches, an unnamed aircraft flew over the Headingley stadium with a pro-Kashmir banner on July 6.
Minutes after the match began, an aircraft carrying the banner ‘Justice for Kashmir’ flew above the ground.
This is second such incident inside 10 days after Afghanistan and Pakistan fans clashed at the venue after ‘Justice for Balochistan’ banner was displayed by an unnamed aircraft that landed at the Bradford
After ‘Justice for Balochistan’ banner flew, the ICC had said that it would try that such incidents are not repeated.
ICC has expressed concern and released statement in this regard which read, “Throughout the tournament we’ve worked with local police forces to prevent this type of protest occurring. After the previous incident we were assured by West Yorkshire Police there wouldn’t be a repeat of this issue, so we are very dissatisfied it’s happened again”.
Pakistan senior journalist Saj Sadiq tweeted,” More political banners being flown above Headingley during the World Cup”.
