Srinagar, May 4: Momento Watlar Saturday defeated Rising Star Margund by 7 wickets to lift the KPL, edition 5.
After winning the toss, Margund chose to bat first. The side didn’t find best of the starts as they lost wickets on regular intervals. Ashu Khan was the only batsman to show some resistance, scoring 30 odd runs. His cameo helped Rising Star post the total of 122 runs in the allotted 20 overs.
For bowling side, Wahid with four-wicket-haul to his name was pick of the bowlers.
Watlar responded well to this below-par score. Despite losing the openers early, they chased the total in the 17th over with 7 wickets in hand, courtesy a match-winning knock by Umer Sofi. He scored a fine fifty while Wahid also contributed unbeaten 30 runs.
At the presentation ceremony, Umar for his knock received man of the match award while Farhad of Royal Blues ran away with man of the tournament momento.
Apart from this, Wahid of Watlar grabbed best batsman and Mudasir Bhat of Yarmuqaam XI won the best catch awards, respectively.
