The 136 run knock by Ahmad Banday and a six wicket haul by Waseem Raza helped J&K beat Tripura by eight wickets in the matych of Ranji Trophy at Sheri-Kashmir Cricket Stadium Srinagar on Friday.
Tripura started last day of the play with 233/4 with SK Patel batting on 71 and Pratysuh on 40. After the late start to the pay due to fog, the duo started cautiously and resisted the J&K charge for first half hour of play. Umar Nazir gave J&K first breakthrough by getting Pratyush who scored 59. Patel in middle was joined by SS Ghosh taking score past 316 run mark. They were trailing by two runs when, double blow hurt them. First Ghosh was trapped LBW by Waseem Raza and then Parvez Rasool took out centurion SK Patel. It was time the when J&K got first sniff of a victory. Patel got out after scoring a brilliant ton of 112 runs. Parvez then got wicket of Harmeet Singh while as Waseem Raza wrapped up lower order quickly. Raza finished with six wicket haul. They set target of 40 runs for J&K to chase.
In chasing the target, J&K lost two wickets. Ian Dev got out for naught while as Paras Sharma scored 23. J&k won match by eight wickets and earned six points.
In the first inning Tripura had got all out for 124 with Parvez Rasool taking five wickets. In response J&K scored 442 in their first inning with Ahmad Banday scoring 136 run knock. Irfan Pathan scored 85 and Shubham Khajuria 52.
