Sports Stadium Doda on Saturday faced severe damage as number of vehicles were parked in the ground, locals complained, while DDC Doda said that restoration has already been done.
The Stadium is home to all the sports activities and other happenings of the area. Its use as a parking station has irked the youth especially sportspersons there,
“How can they use the stadium for parking purpose? Thousands of vehicles were stationed here and it has almost disfigured the ground,” a local said.
A state level cricket tournament is scheduled to take place there from next week and players are concerned about it now,
“Tournament starts from November 24 and it’s unlikely to be held if the condition of Stadium doesn’t improve. Administration must come forward and stop vandalizing this ground,” a cricketer of the area said.
Meanwhile, DDC Doda, Anshul Garg while talking to KSW said that the restoration has been almost done,
“You can check the stadium now. It’s almost fine. We are even holding an event there today and the state level tournament will surely take place,” Garg said.
Responding to people’s complaints he said that vehicles had to be at a single place during Panchayat Elections,
“It was a one day affair (Panchayat Elections). We had to keep vehicles at a single place,” He added.
