Ranji Trophy: Goa continue to punish sorry J&K

After opting to bowl first on a good bowling track, J&K bowlers have failed to take wickets as Goa went onto post 422 runs for the loss of 7 wickets at the end of second days play in Ranji Trophy match against J&K at Goa on Tuesday. J&K Ranji trophy team1

Despite not allowing Goa batsman to score freely by bowling at right areas Goa have been able to hold on in the middle. They batted initially but later changed the gears, ending the first day on 216/2 in 90 overs.

On the 2nd day as well, they made another 206 runs, scoring 422/7. J&K, on the other hand, was able to take five wickets today.

Now the query arises that in spite of bowling 62 maidens out of 180 overs, why J&K failed to produce positive results?

Goa batsmen played very sensibly. They knew pitch will be helpful for bowlers early on and batted sensibly. They survived most of the first day and later took the chances.

They are likely to carry on tomorrow to take J&K out of the game. Snehal Kauthankar is still in middle batting on 106 from 193 balls. He is joined by Lakshay Garg on three runs. For J&K Umar Nazir , Amir Aziz and Irfan Pathan have picked two wickets each.

Meanwhile, J&K has to play for first innings lead and make sure not to give away easy wickets.

For Goa, spinners can play a big part. It would be interesting to see how J&K batsmen approach to Goa’s first innings total tomorrow.
