As reported by local leading daily Greater Kashmir, Riyaz Ahmad Lone, who is part of the rescue efforts, said that bad weather hampered the rescue operation.

An official said seven members of the trekking team who were stranded following the accident have reached Aru village in Pahalgam.
Two rescue teams of Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering and Winter Sports were taking part in the rescue efforts along with the state police, SDRF and other agencies.
Two trekkers – KAS officer Naveed Jeelani and Adil Shah of Alpine group – are feared dead in the accident. “Efforts are on to retrieve their bodies,” said the official.

Earlier in the day, an injured trekker identified as Hazik Beigh, was airlifted for treatment.
