J&K lost the chance of registering second consecutive win in Vijay Hazare Trophy owing to some irresponsible batting by some batsman down the order.
Been in a position were from only they are themselves to be blamed for the loss, J&K went on from 232/5 to 246/10 with a span of 15 balls.
Ian Dev Singh who has not been the player he used to be, failed once again and more importantly failed at a juncture when his Services were most required. Jatin Wadhwan who was not at his best in Under-23 one day league continued his downward run and failed to give JK solid start at the top.
Then we have IPL fame, Manzoor Dar (Pandav) who in the middle alongwith Shubham Pundir took team to a position where from win looked only a formality.
Manzoor who had already given three chances during his short stay at the crease needed to play cautiously with Pundir getting run out on first ball of 48th over. Instead he wacked out at a delivery and was caught at long on.
It was a chance for him to become hero and win match single handedly for the team at the end. But he couldn’t learnt from the mistakes he had made earlier in same inning. He had given two catches and also one close LBW appeal went in his favor. There has been discussion on social media with some fans of Pandav blaming team management for sending him late in batting order. being hard hitter the position suits and make it idle for him to finish the inning. But for that he needs to maintain his composure and read the situation well. it is hoped that he will learn from this and go on to play match winning knocks for team in future.
Apart from this the two run outs of Parvez Rasool and Shubham Pundir changed the whole scenario in the match. It again proves that fielding is an important aspect for winning the game.
It is time for JK to give another chance to players like Umar Nissar and Ishtiyaq Elahi who were dropped only after their debut.
